Underwood Law Firm was formed in 1981 by John C. Underwood,
Jr. Mr. Underwood had previously served as a legal assistant for the Mississippi Supreme Court and as a Special Assistant
to the Attorney General of Mississippi until January 1977, when he entered private practive in Jackson, Mississippi, specializing
in real estate and mortgage banking transactions.
During its history, the firm has served as local counsel for both
the Administrator of Veterans' Affairs and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The firm currently serves as
a HUD Foreclosure Commisssioner. Underwood has also represented a host of local banks, thrifts and mortgage banking companies
and currently represents dozens of mortgage banking concerns across the nation.
Centrally located in the capitol city
of Jackson, Underwood is well positioned and staffed to provide a range of services including foreclosures, bankruptcy representation,
evictions, title examinations and policies, as well as REO services and closings. Unlike, many of its competitors, the vast
majority of work is performed by firm personnel with many years of experience in handling Mississippi transactions.
The
firm's seasoned and experienced staff is well equipped to respond to unusual situations and to keep its clients fully apprised
of recent developments in local law affecting real estate and foreclosure related transactions.
